Algorithms for Genetics: Introduction, and sources of variation

چکیده
Ploidy: the number of copies of each chromosome that is contained in somatic (non-gamete) cells of a species. In humans and most other animal species, the somatic cells are usually diploid, meaning they have 2 copies of each chromosome, whereas the gamete cells are haploid and have a single copy of each chromosome. Some plant and animal species are known to have more than 2 copies of each chromosome, which is called polyploidy.

Identification of sources for drought tolerance in local bread wheat landraces
In order to identify drought tolerant germplasm, 97 bread wheat landraces, mostly Iranian genotypes, were evaluated in two separate experiments of normal and drought stress conditions in the field of Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center of Varamin. The experiments were performed in lattice statistical design with three replications. Drought conditions in the stress experiment was e...
متن کاملDetermining Difference in Evolutionary Variation of Bacterial RecA proteins vs 16SrRNA Genes by using 16s_Toxonomy Tree
Background and Aims: The rate of variation in various genes of a bacterial species is different during evolution. Therefore, in systematic bacterial studies many researchers compare the phylogenetic tree of a particular gene to the standard tree of an rRNA gene. Regarding the importance of 16SrRNA gene and the evolutional process of RecA protein family, we investigated the changes in the select...
متن کاملMultiple sources, admixture, and genetic variation in introduced anolis lizard populations.
Invasive species are classically thought to suffer from reduced within-population genetic variation compared to their native-range sources due to founder effects and population bottlenecks during introduction. Reduction in genetic variation in introduced species may limit population growth, increase the risk of extinction, and constrain adaptation, hindering the successful establishment and spr...
متن کاملAssessment of two different dose distribution algorithms (Clarkson and Superposition) in PCRT3D treatment planning system for Esophagus Cancer by using 3DCRT technique
Introduction: The functionality and quality of any treatment planning system (TPS) strongly depends on the type of Algorithm which is used by it. Obviously, the role of dose distribution algorithms in calculation of prescribed dose inside the tumor in modern radiotherapy techniques has more important than past to achieve the best clinical outcomes, especially in tumors which ar...
متن کاملEstimating the Number of Wideband Radio Sources
In this paper, a new approach for estimating the number of wideband sources is proposed which is based on RSS or ISM algorithms. Numerical results show that the MDL-based and EIT-based proposed algorithm havea much better detection performance than that in EGM and AIC cases for small differences between the incident angles of sources. In addition, for similar conditions, RSS algorithm offers hi...
